Pattern Release: Purplish Diamond Sweater

by Lena Fedotova (ravliki on Ravelry)

Purplish Diamond Sweater pattern, originally published in Crochet Now magazine Issue 11, is now available in Lena's store on Ravelry as an individual pattern download!

The pattern has been tweaked a little, updated, and now uses U.S. crochet terminology. It also includes more charts and helpful pictures.

Purplish Diamond sweater is worked seamlessly top down in the round with the right side always facing up.

The diamond stitch pattern uses only two of the most basic crochet stitches: double crochet and chains.

Available sizes: S (M, L, 1X, 2X) designed to fit with 2.4” / 6 cm positive ease. The width is 18⅞ (20½, 22, 23⅝, 25¼ )'' / 48 (52, 56, 60, 64) cm.

The sweater works up fast thanks to DK weight WYS Bluefaced Leicester (100% wool, 122 yards (112 m) per 50 g ball) and a hook US G (4 mm).

The blank layout templates of the yoke can be used as your sketchpad: choose your beloved colors and colorize them to visualize your own unique sweater before you start it!

Happy crocheting!

The second motif is technically worked the same way as the first motif. But it creates the layouts which look so different, that I think it deserves to be posted here :)

Pattern Release: Foxtrot Shawl

by Lena Fedotova (ravliki on Ravelry)

I have just released Foxtrot shawl, a new addition to my Shine On collection of the diamond stitch pattern designs. In these designs, you will alternate two colors at a time, but use only one color in each round/row.

Foxtrot shawl design is the most difficult one because it is worked in rows (the rest of my "diamond" designs are worked in the round with the right side always facing). You need to pay attention to where your stitches are since all dc stitches should be left on the right side (and create the diamond pattern) and all chains should be left on the wrong side.

Tunisian Entrelac Motifs: Block #1

by Lena Fedotova (ravliki on Ravelry)

In summer 2016 I took part in the first KnitPro design-along, dedicated to Knit For Peace charity program. You can purchase an e-book which includes twelve knit and crochet motifs (plus ideas for blanket layouts using the squares and instructions for different borders) for £6.00 here.

I submitted eight Tunisian entrelac patterns and one of these motifs has been released (you can find it in the e-book). I am going to share the rest of the patterns for free in the Cup of Stitches blog. I gave them some simple names and sorted them depending on the difficulty level. The simplest ones use one color per round/row. The other ones use a couple of colors per round/row and I provide the detailed instructions for changing colors in a special manner (to avoid extra "cut&fasten off").

The patterns assume basic familiarity with Tunisian crochet, specifically how each row is worked as two separate passes and how to work Tunisian simple stitch. Each element of the motifs is small enough to place all of your stitches on a regular crochet hook.

Here is the first motif:

Project: Oversized Skysail

I decided to make an oversized version of Skysail for myself. Here it is! Yarn: 4 ply cotton, hook 3 mm.

Now LIVE: Skysail

Lena's Skysail top pattern, originally published in Crochet Now, Issue 5, is now available in her store on Ravelry as an individual pattern download!

The pattern includes the original instructions, the construction schematic and the charts on pages 6-7.
To customize the size or to accommodate your individual gauge, see Step by Step Formula with pictures on the last pages.

The top construction allows for endless color options done in multiple ways. The only limit is the diagonally-oriented borders of your color blocks, since all rows are worked diagonally.

Choose your most beloved colors and use the blank templates provided as your sketchpad to create your own unique design!
